This event will take place on June 24th 2012.

Advertising is by word of mouth and on facebook so I strongly urge each vendor to advertise too. I will be making an event invite on Facebook, advertising like crazy via facebook and will be handing out fliers.

The cost of the booth depends on the number of vendors. The more vendors, the less the booth cost. I’m hoping each booth will cost no more than $55/vendor but I can’t say exactly until I get more vendors. It’s possible the price will be as much as $100 max for a booth.

Each booth comes with tables and table linens. I am not charging vendors any fees for setting up this event nor will I take a % of your sales. You get to keep all of your earnings. I’m providing this so that small businesses, artists and crafters will have an opportunity to have a booth at an affordable rate. I too will have a booth for my products. : )

I am taking reservations for a $40 down payment. That will guarantee you a booth and be applied towards the total cost of your booth rental. I hope to be refunding part of that $40 to you, as a result of getting a lot of vendors but that cannot be determined now nor guaranteed.

The venue has a variety of table shapes and sizes, the only way I can make it fair is by having a first come first serve policy. Your choice of table size will be determined by the order of which you have reserved and paid the $40 reservation hold fee. I do hope that someone who doesn’t need a large table would forgo it for a smaller one. As I said, I am doing this for our community of small businesses, artists and crafters, not for personal profit on booth sales so please keep that in mind.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself and your business. What inspired you to go into the craft business?

Describe your creative process when designing/making your product line. I find inspiration in the every day natural and urban forms around me and translate this inspiration into the organic and modern geometries found in my designs. My work also reflects an artistic interest in the exploration of geometry and the playful repetition of shapes.

All pieces for Folia Design SF are digitally drafted, laser cut at Tech Shop, a member based workshop in San Francisco, and then hand assembled. I use a combination of laser etching (surface burning) and laser cutting (burning through) materials that have been carefully selected for their strength, durability, and etching qualities. In addition, Folia Design SF strives to be environmentally responsible and uses renewable and recycled materials whenever possible.

What’s the best thing about what you do? And the worst?
I love watching my designs come to life with the laser cutter and then seeing those pieces become part of someone else’s life through use or wear. I am also excited to be able to contribute to San Francisco’s creative economy and provide an alternative avenue for people who want to support local artists and makers. I don’t think I’ll ever strike it rich doing this, but it certainly enriches my life in many other ways.

One-Of-A-Kind Weekend-Long Festival Celebrates “Cyberpop Overload!” And Showcases The Best In Modern Japanese Film, Anime, Fashion, Music, Art, Retail Design And Popular Culture This August

San Francisco, CA, April 9, 2012 – NEW PEOPLE, a dynamic entertainment destination bringing the latest examples of Japanese popular culture to North American shores, has announced the dates for its 2012 J-Pop Summit Festival. The Festival, now in its fourth year, will be held across San Francisco’s Japantown in association with the Japantown Merchant Association on Saturday, August 25th and Sunday, August 26th.

The theme for 2012 will be “Cyberpop Overload!,” and the all-day, weekend-long event will offer many popular attractions that have made the J-Pop Summit Festival a fun annual gathering for fashion, film, anime, video game, technology and music fans as well as pop culture enthusiasts, Bay Area residents, and tourists visiting the city. Among this year’s most highly anticipated highlights, NEW PEOPLE is partnering with Japan’s Nippon Television Network Corporation (NTV) to present a very special event featuring the EVANGELION series in the U.S. for the first time ever! A variety of other pop-inspired attractions including fashion shows, theatrical film premieres,  live art performances, celebrity appearances, and mini-concerts by some of Japan’s hottest bands are planned for the 2012 J-Pop Summit both inside the NEW PEOPLE complex, and also outdoors at the adjacent Peace Plaza. Innovative artists from Japan will join a variety of merchants and food vendors from the Bay Area to offer an array of pop-inspired products and delicacies for sale in open air displays on both sides of Post Street, the main Japantown thoroughfare.

Participants and the event guests visit from everywhere throughout California; as well as neighboring states from Nevada to Maine.

The fun begins at 10 am with the opening of Solano Avenue businesses and Stroll booths and the kick-off is the theme parade with about 100 groups.

After the parade, you can visit one of 50 entertainers, 50 food booths, 150 juried arts and crafters, state of the art mechanical rides, and 150 community non-profit and government organizations, not to mention the unique and popular professional services, restaurants, and shops already here on Solano Avenue.

You will hear the best in local music, dance and other performances and absolutely stunning costumes from all over the globe!

This is a family event! We feature a special area set aside just for kids that offer giant slides, carnival games, clowns, jugglers, stilt walkers, face painters, magicians, and maybe even wizards and elves – come and see for yourselves…

The Green Zone on the east side of Solano Avenue will offer tips about simple changes you can make at your home or business to reduce global warming, displays of green technology — such as solar panels, tank-less water heaters — composting techniques, and environmental experts ready to answer your questions about what you can do to check climate change. We also have the “stage door” with over a dozen local performance/theater groups, a pet’s area, as well as a school/youth resource area
