Steel Toe Studios is a metalworking studio that makes hand-forged buckles and hand-dyed leather belts in the salty Seattle neighborhood of Georgetown. STS is comprised of Erica Gordon, founder and designer, and her sister Danielle Gordon, pr and marketing/advertising. Using sewing as an art form, Sara Lanzillotta of Devout has been making dolls, oddities, and creatures for the past 9 years. Her soft sculptures have appeared in several galleries and stores and in the Seattle Art Museum. Using traditional forms of sewing and dollmaking, Sara's pieces use the cute and approachable forms of dolls and mix them with confusing and sometimes disturbing subjects. Combining the sweet and scary, her work often makes us question traditional ideals in society and makes us laugh when faced with the alternative. |
