APPLICATIONS ARE CLOSED.

Time and Location

The 2010 Boston Bazaar Bizarre will take place on December 5th at the Boston Center for the Arts' Cyclorama. The fair will be open to the public from Noon until 7pm, with an Early Bird Shopping Hour from 11am until Noon. These tickets will be pre-sold in November with proceeds going to charities that will be present at the Bazaar Bizarre. Normal entry costs $1, early Bird entry is $10 and limited to 100 shoppers.

The Cyclorama is located at 539 Tremont Street in Boston, MA and we have a page filled with directions and parking information. For out of town travelers, we have hotels listed on this page.

Vendor Numbers

For the 2010 Bazaar Bizarre, we are only accepting applications for the main room at the Cyclorama. We have space for just 80 vendors, so the competition will be tough. Please provide your best product information and photos to help us make an educated decision on vendors.

The other sections of the Cyclorama will be used for a variety of other fun activities. More info will be provided to vendors after they are accepted.

Fees and Spaces

The fee for the 2010 Boston Bazaar Bizarre is $200.

The $200 fee is refundable at any time until applications close on August 11th. After August 25th, vendor fees are non-refundable. We will only consider requests for refund on a case by case basis. We rarely issue refunds, and only due to well documented severe catastrophic hardships. You are not under any conditions permitted to sell or trade your space. Please do not apply unless you are committed to selling at the Boston Bazaar Bizarre .

Each vendor can only apply for one spot, but this spot can be shared. If you are applying to share a table with a friend, submit ONE application only. Both names must be included on one application to be judged for participation. You cannot share a table with anyone who has not been accepted. Doing so will result in forfeiture of your space and vendor fee.

Upon acceptance, you can request either a table or an empty space. Tables are 6 feet long and 2 1/2 feet wide. Empty spaces will be 6 feet long and 4 feet wide. You cannot display items outside of your allocated space. You cannot use both a garment rack and a table. If you have a special set up that requires extra space, please note this on your application. It may affect your chances of being accepted, so please contact us if you have any questions regarding your display.

Wall spaces are limited at the Cyclorama, since it is a round room. You may request wall space, but you are not guaranteed you will receive it. Wall space will be assigned randomly to those who express interest.

Jury Process

80 vendors will be chosen from all applications received. Every application will be reviewed by Bazaar Bizarre organizers, then subjected to an anonymous jury. Applicants are judged on quality and originality.

At least 75% of our vendors will be local vendors, representing all of New England. At least 20% of our vendors will be new to the Bazaar Bizarre (these amounts can overlap i.e. a new, local vendor). Vendors from previous years will also be gladly accepted, but please note that we look for growth within these companies. Visitors to the Bazaar Bizarre are looking for new, fresh ideas and we hope to fill the space with the best crafters and artists out there.

Having a unique medium is a benefit in the application process. We can only choose a small amount of vendors from each style of craft, and many of them will have a lot of competition. In past years, Jewelry vendors have made up almost half of our applicants, so make sure if you sell jewelry that you promote your most unique and marketable styles!

Application Period

Applications will be live until 5pm on Wednesday, August 11, 2010. Applicants will be notified by 5pm on Monday, August 16th of their acceptance or rejection. Any vendor who is not accepted will have their vendor fee refunded in full no later than 5pm August 20th.

If you have any questions at all, please contact us at boston_info@bazaarbizarre.org

Tips

Pictures Are VERY Important:
Take pictures that are clear, well lit, and both not too close up, and not or too far away. If you can't tell what the object is, you should try some photos from different angles, or different zooms.
If you make a variety of different products, pick your three application photos based on what you will have the most of at BB. Please, do NOT provide photos of entire table or booth set ups.

Links Rule:
On your website or in your application, provide links so we can see your crafts in action, being sold, being used, reviewed or just more pictures. If you don't already have a website, make a free photo hosting account, open a free blog account, or set up a MySpace/Facebook page. Popular, easy to use free photo accounts include flickr and photobucket, free blog accounts like livejournal, blogger, wordpress and typepad are all great too. Most sites have clear instructions on how to make links and post pictures. Making a few picture-filled posts will let the jury see much more of your work than just your application photos.

Information:
Bios in the application are the first thing most shoppers will read when visiting the BB website. You can use this spot to talk about your crafts as well as yourself. Short and sweet works best.

Contact:
Sign up for the BB mailing list, and make sure emails from the BB don't get marked as spam.
Let us know if you have any questions or concerns! There's no unimportant or stupid question. We were all first time vendors once!

Miscellaneous:
Apply with a friend! For big fairs like the BB, applying with a friend, or collaborating with other crafters is a great idea. It allows the jury to have more vendors at the fair, and also keeps travel/table costs down for vendors. Keep in mind that tables are only 6 feet long, so more than 2 vendors per can get cramped.
